Drought Order and Water Meters: More thieves.

I am real interested to know how come the efforts of all in times of water shortage are focussed upon the poor old domestic user. Hosepipe bans I can understand to a point but really, are the water companies that crap or is the drought that bad. We as domestic consumers use most of our water washing, drinking, flushing and cleaning be it dishwashers showers or baths what is the difference- all of the water used in this way is returned to the water company, without significant loss, after we have used it, they then purify it again, fill it up with new chemicals and reissue it to the next consumer.

Now if we didn't give the water back I would understand the issue but as we do it is all rather a circular system, the water stays in the system, is in our hands (or indeed bodies) for a very short time and is then returned to the water company system. So why are domestic supplies and the public the target of all of this crap about water shortages- it could only happen if either on the way to us or on the way back from us the water companies somehow manage to lose the water.

I rarely water the garden, never wash the car and so how come I am a net consumer. On Friday and Saturdays I go out and buy six or seven pints of the stuff and return most of it to my domestic system overnight- surely along with the growth in mineral water use we are also importing lots of the stuff, we shoud be awash with it rather than having it rationed. Who has it all and is this just another way of making us pay for or putting up the price of something we used to enjoy for free?

How much does Gordon Brown get or am I now being paranoid about the efficiency of the state in sucking us poor monkeys in this case quite literally dry? Think on it!
